Olympus Announces End of Life for DSS Player Pro R5 Software

There will be no further updates or patches produced for any version of DSS Player Pro R5. Olympus will no longer add features, check for operating system or other application compatibility issues, or correct any bugs (if found after this date). Any escalated support question related to DSS Player Pro R5 will be responded to only if the answer is already known.

DSS Player Pro R5 is compatible up to Windows 7, so it is possible that end users will be able to continue using the software for some time without support, however this is not recommended. Olympus is advising all Olympus users to make contact with their Authorised Olympus Pro Dealer to make arrangements for upgrading to the latest Olympus Dictation Management System (ODMS) software. This will enable them to take advantage of new features and continue to enjoy full technical support for their dictation workflow software.

DSS Player Pro R4 technical support was discontinued some time ago, however it was compatible up to Windows XP. Now that support for Windows XP has been removed by Microsoft, customers will need to upgrade to ODMS if they are also upgrading their operating system.

Note also that DS-3300 and DS-4000 recorders will not be compatible with future ODMS releases i.e. beyond version 6.2.2, so these end of life devices should also be upgraded as required.
